Effects Of Drugs With Mesalazine Content?
Hello, I don’t want to ask, is there any effect on the stomach if the patient takes the whole mesalazine caplet by consuming it crushed/grinded?? because I read several articles, the consumption of crushed/grinded mesalazine caplets has an effect on the stomach, is that true? if it is consumed whole, the patient is unable to swallow the caplet, what is the solution, doctor?? tks
Mesalazine is an anti-inflammatory drug that is commonly prescribed to people with inflammatory bowel disease or Crohn's disease. This drug preparation can be in the form of capsules, tablets or suppositories (inserted through the anus).
The use of this drug must be swallowed whole because if it is crushed or chewed, the effectiveness of the drug will decrease. This drug when taken in its entirety will be metabolized in the intestines, especially the large intestine and reduce the symptoms of inflammation in the intestines. So far there is no data that proves that the consumption of this drug in a destroyed state will affect the work of the stomach.
if the patient has difficulty swallowing the drug, it is better to consult a doctor to be given an alternative dosage form of the drug.
