Osteoarthritis is a disease that causes joint cartilage to become stiff so that pain is often complained of by sufferers. Generally, this disease is often experienced by adults, especially the elderly because of the degeneration / aging process, one of which is the bones and joints.
Osteoarthritis condition will certainly affect pregnancy. When pregnancy is in progress, there is an increase in body fluid which directly affects the composition of body weight which increases in size. This will result in the joints in the lower limbs having to support more body weight than when not pregnant. Because the joint elasticity has decreased, of course this will cause pain and can aggravate the osteoarthritis condition.
In addition, immunosuppressive drugs (immune suppressants) are medicines that people with osteoarthritis often consume. These drugs have side effects in pregnancy, especially during the first trimester. Several studies have stated that there is evidence of babies born with congenital defects and a high risk of abortion (fetuses die less than 20 weeks), so the use of these drugs is mandatory under the supervision of a doctor if they must be consumed.
If you experience this condition, you should first consult with an obstetrician to get more complete and relevant information. The doctor will provide the best treatment to prevent recurrence, severity and minimize side effects in case of pregnancy. I have submitted so much information, hope it helps
