I currently have a lower right molar toothache, I plan to have my tooth extracted to the doctor but I’m breastfeeding and my baby is 6 months old.rnCan I have my tooth extracted while I’m still breastfeeding?

Hello,

Thanks for the question. Have you had your teeth checked by a dentist to determine the cause? Toothache can be caused by various health conditions that are treated differently, not necessarily by tooth extraction. Toothache can be caused by:

pulpitis or infection of the root of the tooth caused by cavities

inflammation of the gums or gingivitis
periodontal abscess
cracked teeth
gum shrinkage

The growth of wisdom teeth that are not good can also cause molar toothache. It's a good idea to check with your dentist first so that the doctor can examine your aching tooth and find the cause. After knowing the cause, the dentist will determine the next treatment. If you have cavities, the dentist will not necessarily remove your teeth. If your teeth can still be preserved, then the doctor will perform root treatment to clean the infection and perform fillings there. Tooth extraction will usually be done on the growth of wisdom teeth that do not grow properly. In general, there are no contraindications to tooth extraction in nursing mothers. Please discuss this further with your dentist. To treat temporary pain, you can take paracetamol. You can also gargle with warm salt water.

I hope this helps.
