Hello Muarza, thank you for asking with HealthReplies.com.
Chemical poisoning such as cyanide is generally quite rare, but poisoning can occur if a person is exposed to chemicals or cyanide in sufficient quantities and cannot be overcome by the body. Cyanide poisoning can occur as a result of workplace accidents when someone is accidentally swallowed or inhales smoke from industrial combustion.
If exposed quickly in large quantities with cyanide it can cause brain damage, heart disease, seizures, loss of consciousness or coma to death.
Doctors usually suspect a person of cyanide poisoning if there are symptoms of cyanide poisoning in someone who is in an industrial location that uses cyanide (such as in a plastic factory, industrial agriculture, metals, mining, coloring, and jewelry) or when a fire occurs.
Investigations that can be done is a blood test to see the concentration of cyanide in a person's blood, measuring oxygen levels and blood lactate levels, or carbon monoxide drugs and methemoglobin to see other possible causes of poisoning.
Hopefully this information can be useful for you. Thank you for your attention.
