Examination Results Revealed A Tumor On The Back Of The Head?
Hello … my father had Toxoplasma 2 months ago, when MRI was found in the back of the brain mass resembles a tumor, and recently my father had a stroke, did this toxoplasma symptom really cause a stroke and a mass in the brain (like a tumor)?
Good evening, thanks for the question
Toxoplasma gondii is an intracellular protozoan which has the ability to modulate an unfavorable environment for growth, one of which can infect brain tissue. According to the literature there is a real relationship between toxoplasma infection with brain tumor events (various types of brain tumors such as meningiomas or astrocytomas). In patients with brain tumors significantly found increased levels of toxoplasma infection in the blood based on serological examination. From research it is suspected that toxoplasmosis infection does have a role in the formation of brain tumors through mechanisms that are not yet fully understood. Furthermore, the mass of the tumor if it causes swelling in the surrounding tissue it can lead to stroke complications that occur slowly.
Carry out further consultations with neurosurgeons for further treatment according to the patient's medical condition.
That's all, hope you can help
