Explanation Of Lab Results From Creatine And BUN Values?
noon the results of my father’s chekup were creatinine 9 and bun 30. Even though my father is still taking gall bladder medicine. Is that not dangerous for kidney function? because they are still taking medicine
Hello Iin, thanks for the question.
As you know, creatinine and BUN values are tests to assess a person's kidney function. When the kidney's filtering function is disrupted, various metabolites including urea and creatinine will accumulate in the blood plasma. This can disrupt the function of various organs, such as the brain. Basically, if the creatinine and BUN values are far above normal, then the possibility of kidney function has decreased considerably. That is, with or without taking drugs other than kidney medicine too, kidney function will remain disrupted.
The treating doctor will assess, risk and benefit of giving a drug. Of course each drug has a risk of side effects, but if the benefits obtained are far greater so that the quality of life of patients can improve, then the drug will still be given. Discuss this problem with the treating doctor. Report what kind of medicines your father currently consumes. Thus, doctors can find out whether it is necessary to review the administration of these drugs.
Hopefully this answer is useful. Regards.
