Explanation Of The Results Of The Pneumothoracic Thoracic CT Scan?
Yesterday I just did a CT scan on the chest, for examination because I have been on OAT therapy for 6 months. The Result Impressions: Atelectasis in Segments 1, 2 and 6, Right Lung. Pneumothorax Suspect. previously I had asthma and had been taking TB medicine (OAT) for the past 6 months since January 2019. only in the past few days I felt difficulty breathing, a bit heavy when breathing. What is the purpose of the CT results? is the disease severe? Are these complications from TB disease that I suffer from? what should I do, schedule for control to my hospital next month. Thank you, doctor
Hello Nunuri, thank you for asking.
Based on your CT scan results, you will find several segments / parts of the right lung that have collapsed. A collapsed lung cannot develop properly, which can make a person difficult to breathe or shortness of breath. This condition can be caused by a blockage in the airway or external pressure. In your case, pneumothorax is suspected.
Pneumothorax is the presence of air in the pleura. Pleura is a layer or wall of the lung consisting of two layers. Normally there is only a small amount of fluid in the pleura. The presence of air in the pleura causes lung tissue to compress, so that some lung collapses.
Pnemutoraks can occur due to injury, infection, or due to a ruptured lung bleb. This may or may not be related to your pulmonary TB.
You should immediately consult your doctor without waiting for a control schedule. Pulmonary collapse can deteriorate rapidly and cause fatal breathing difficulties.
Thus my brief explanation. Hopefully can help. Regards.
