Eye Drops For Contact Lenses?
I just bought eyefresh hypromellose dextran 60 cendo minidose eye drops, was it used before using contact lenses, or when using dry conditions, or after using softlenses? If my eyes are dry when using the lens can I use this medicine or not? Thank you
Hello Salma, thank you for asking at HealthReplies.com.
The drug that you buy basically contains the active ingredient hypromellose (HPMC) and dextran, both of which are aimed to help eliminate eye dryness in people who experience dry eyes due to lack of tear production.
This drug itself is not recommended for use when using contact lenses because the liquid for the use of contact lenses is very different from the drug you are buying. When used together it is very possible to cause bad side effects on the eyes.
In addition, before you use eye drops, even if only in the form of eye drops for dry eyes, it is highly recommended to use them as directed by your doctor because there are quite a lot of causes for dry eyes and appropriate treatments are also quite diverse.
If you feel your eyes are uncomfortable or dry when using contact lenses, use special eye drops when using contact lenses to avoid side effects on the eyes.
If you still want to use the medicine you have purchased, use it when your eyes feel dry only when you don't use contact lenses. If you have finished but the complaint does not improve, you should consult further with an ophthalmologist to get the right therapy according to the cause.
I hope this helps.
