Thank you for asking HealthReplies.com.
The entry of foreign objects (including ants) into the eye can indeed trigger inflammation, causing pain. Not only that, this condition can also make the eyes become red, watery, and feel lumpy.
Still feeling pain in the eye can indicate that the ant that entered your eye has not been successfully removed, or it could be because the ant is irritating the components of your eye, such as the conjunctiva, cornea, or other structures in it.
If the new complaint occurred this morning, you should try to do some of the following efforts:
Keep calm, don't panic
Stop rubbing your eyes, because it can make eye irritation worse
Avoid trying too hard to get ants out of your eyes
Wash your hands with soap and water
Move to a cool place
Ask someone else to check your eyes, whether there are still ants left in the eyes
Drop artificial tears to make the eyes feel more comfortable. If the ants are still left in the eye, the use of artificial tears can generally also make these ants out and appear more clearly.
Often times, ants that get into your eyes will come out on their own without you even noticing. The exit of these ants is indicated by the improvement of your complaint. However, if with the above efforts the pain does not improve within 24 hours, or the eyes appear red, blurry, and lumpy, you should immediately consult an ophthalmologist for further treatment.
