Eyes Sore, Swollen And Redden More Than A Week?
Hello, my eyes have been sore, swollen, red for more than a week. I have taken inflammation and antibiotics, also itching and drops, but nothing has changed. My nose is numb, I don’t know why, is it because of an inflammation drug?
Hello Milasari Kusomo, thank you for asking using HealthReplies.com.
Swollen and reddish eyes can be caused by inflammation or infection in the eye area or eyelids. The inflammation can be caused by viral, bacterial, allergic or other irritations in the eye area.
Some diseases that might cause your complaints include:
Hordeolum / kalazion
Foreign body in the eye
Other infections in the eye area
It is better to take inflammation drugs and antibiotics should be according to the dosage and recommendations of your doctor. Antibiotics and drops are also given according to the cause of your condition, so you should be able to check the condition of your eyes to an ophthalmologist. Your eye doctor needs a physical examination and a direct eye examination in order to determine the exact cause of your complaint. If there are complaints such as decreased visual acuity, the eyes become increasingly blurry, there is severe pain in the eye area then you are advised to immediately go to the nearest health facility.
Some things you can do between:
Keep your hands clean before and after touching the eye area
Warm compresses around the eyes with a clean cloth for 1-2 minutes
To reduce pain you can try over-the-counter pain relievers such as paracetamol
Hopefully this information can be useful for you.
