Eyes Still Blurry After Laser Eye Surgery?
Hello doctor, I’m having a relex smile operation in an eye hospital in Jakarta in March. But it’s been 3 months but the eyes are still blurry. There is indeed a change from the previous -5. Currently it is still running away, even though I was desperate to leave, even though I still run away. The blur is like -2, a month after the operation I have checked and the results are good according to the eye doctor at the hospital. But until now it’s still not 100% normal. Frankly speaking, it is quite stressful because it costs a lot for surgery, but it’s not like the advertisement or the testicles of patients with lasik surgery / relex smile in the media. Please inform me, is it normal that it is still hazy or does the healing take a long time? thank you
Hello Ahmad, thank you for the question for HealthReplies.com
ReLEx SMILE is one of the newest laser eye surgery procedures. This operation is less invasive than LASIK surgery and the required recovery period is also faster than LASIK. About 80% of patients show vision improvement a few hours after surgery, and vision will become more stable after 2-4 weeks.
However, as with other eye surgeries, not all patients who underwent ReLEx SMILE experienced complete visual improvement. Sometimes a repeat operation is also needed to correct the vision that is not really good again. Apart from that, it is also necessary to look into the presence or absence of other eye disorders (apart from refractive errors) that can interfere with vision, for example the presence or absence of cataracts, retinal disorders, and so on. If there are other disturbances besides refractive errors, the vision will not be completely perfect.
If indeed after 3 months you still feel your eyesight is disturbed, you should return to the eye doctor who treats you for further refraction checks. Your eye doctor will also perform other examinations (such as an inner eye exam) to see if there are other abnormalities in your eye that could interfere with your vision.
So much information from me, hopefully it will be enough to answer
