Face Cream That Is Almost Out Of Date Is Still Safe?
Hello, my name is Nia Umm 21 years old. I just bought face cream, when I forgot to check the expiration date, I just checked out the expiration date after 2 months, now is this cream I can still use or should I avoid? Thanks
Hello SQ Ainiah,
Thank you for using the HealthReplies.com consulting service.
The expiration date of cosmetic products or facial skin care is determined based on the date on which the ingredients containing the product can still be useful and safe to use. The use of products that exceed the expiration date can reduce the effectiveness of the substance, and in some cases can also cause negative effects, such as skin irritation, infection, dry skin, and others. Therefore, what is recommended is:
Use products that have been registered with BPOM, and use before the expiration date stated on the package. If it has not passed the expiration date, it is still safe to use.
Wash your face regularly with mild facial soap
Eat foods that are rich in nutrients, especially vitamins and minerals
Consume lots of water
If exposed to much sun, use sunscreen
As for some of the characteristics that you can see to find out which material has expired are:
Color changes (for example, initially light brown, but turns yellowish, dark brown, etc.)
Changes in smell, initially fragrant, then become odor
Changes in texture, becomes liquid or slimy / oily
Visible fungus growth both on products and on packaging / packaging
Thus, hopefully it can be useful.
