, ranula plunging cysts, are they the same type as other cysts? Ranung plunging will be greater Because of what conditions? Is carbohydrate a food cyst so it gets bigger?

1 Answer:

Hello Zulian,

Plunging ranula is the same pseudocyst as mucocele. In mucocele cysts form in the mucosa (inner lining of the lips), while plunging ranulas form in the neck area with or without a lump in the floor of the mouth (under the tongue). Ranung plunging is formed from salivary discharge from the salivary glands due to trauma (bitten, punctured) or due to blockage. Ranung plunging is generally harmless, but because of its large size it can interfere with appearance and if it is in the bottom of the mouth it can interfere with the process of talking, chewing and swallowing.

The characteristics of plungin ranula are round, slippery, movable (such as sliding), the same color as the surrounding skin (if the bottom of the mouth is shiny or bluish). Plunging ranula size varies between 4-10 cm. Some patients complain that the size increases when / after eating, this can be caused by increased saliva production. The diagnosis is made through a brief interview about complaints, physical examination, and supporting examinations such as ultrasonography, MRI, or biopsy if needed. The management of ranula plunging is done through surgery to remove the contents of ranula. Further consultation can be done with a surgeon.

Thus the explanation from me, may be useful.
