Factors That Can Cause Postpartum Sutures To Not Close Completely?
at morning,rnDoc I want to ask, I gave birth about 3 weeks ago, and H+1 my stitches have improved and don’t hurt and I am carrying out activities as usual because I follow my demands as well as taking care of my 1st child and there is no PRT, what I ask is, can the stitched miss V open the stitches? I’m paralyzed, I’m afraid the stitches will open/stretch or something, because it’s different from when I gave birth to my first child, can you really rest for weeks, thank you
Hi Monadita. In general, there are several reasons why the stitches are open or the wound doesn't close completely, namely:
1. The pressure on the stitched wound is quite large, for example, such as stitches in the abdomen where the wound is not completely closed but straining a lot, lifting heavy weights
The presence of infection in the wound
3. There is trauma to the wound, for example, you gave birth normally, your stitches may open or not heal properly if you have sexual intercourse too early and there is an infection.
4. frequent activities that stretch the wound area a lot
Consult your obstetrician regarding your condition for further information and treatment. Limit strenuous activities, especially lifting weights, get enough rest, keep the wound area clean by rinsing with warm water or saline or as recommended by a doctor and dried with a dry soft cloth. Following are postnatal care and postnatal care for the vaginal area. Hopefully helpful, and thank you. Regards, Dr Alyssa
