Fever During Young Pregnancy?
A good afternoon. Want to ask. I am 11 weeks pregnant. Since Saturday I coughed and had a headache, then my body started aching with fever from last night. Check the temperature several times until this afternoon, around 37-37.5. Do I have to see a gynecologist or just get some rest at home?
Hello, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com
Basically, cough (and runny nose) is most often caused by a viral infection in the respiratory tract. Viral infections in the respiratory tract can indeed cause other prodromal symptoms such as fever, headache, dizziness, malaise, weakness, muscle aches, bone pain, etc. Although it feels bad, but generally the viral infection in the respiratory tract is harmless and will heal by itself within 7-10 days. If indeed you just experienced this pain on Saturday, then you should not need to worry too much first. You may take medications such as Paracetamol (this drug is safe for consumption by pregnant women) to help reduce your fever and overcome your discomfort, headaches, and aches that you experience. Other cough medicines (and colds) you should not consume before you consult a doctor directly. Try to get more sleep and rest, drink more fluids, and still eat enough nutritious food. You may consume honey to help reduce your cough.
If you feel your fever is getting higher (up to more than 38 degrees Celsius), you experience shortness of breath, your cough does not improve after 7 days, or your cough feels better and then worsens again, immediately consult a doctor for further treatment (you can only see a general practitioner, do not need to see a gynecologist, but let you know that you are pregnant).
So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
