Fever With Hb Below Normal, Is Anemia?
Night. 3 days ago I had a high fever for 2 days. The temperature goes up and down. I have a fever so my teeth feel sensitive. Then the fourth day I checked the blood and it turns out that HB, leukocytes, erythrocytes and hematocrit results are below normal while platelets are approaching the normal lower threshold. Am I anemic or just malnourished? Thank you in advance
Anemia is a condition in which the body lacks red blood cells that contain hemoglobin which is responsible for carrying oxygen throughout the body. Anemia can cause symptoms such as weakness, fatigue, pale, dizziness, to heart palpitations and shortness of breath. Anemia can be caused by many things such as blood loss in large amounts, iron deficiency, folic acid deficiency, vitamin B12 deficiency, certain chronic diseases, autoimmune, and malignancy.
To ensure anemia is done with a blood test. Handling of anemia will be adjusted to the type / cause of anemia and also the level of hemoglobin (Hb) it. Hb values above 8 are generally given outpatient medicines only. But if anemia is moderate (Hb 7-8) and severe anemia (Hb below 7), generally blood transfusion and further observation are needed
In your condition, what you need to pay attention to is not just anemia, but you need to look back on the decrease in leukocytes, hematocrit and platelet values, especially if you have had a high fever for more than 3 days before.
I strongly recommend that you consult a doctor directly by bringing the results of your blood test so that the doctor can carry out further examinations as well as a more thorough interpretation of lab results so that the doctor can ascertain your condition so that you can be given further maximum treatment.
Meanwhile you should get enough rest, drink plenty of water, consume healthy and nutritious food, and consume fever-lowering medication if necessary.
Hope it helps you,
