First Aid Patients With Broken Bones In An Emergency?
,I want to ask. If there is someone who has a broken bone in the open, then I want to help him. But unfortunately there was no splint, only wood branches that were quite straight and also some bamboo. Can I use it as a substitute for splints? Or should I leave it alone?
Hi Wahyu Antika is good. Thankyou for asking.
Your initiative to provide first aid to people who have experienced trauma (accidents) is very good huh. If you have a sufficient knowledge and experience base on breeding, then I don't think there is a problem if you want to do emergency surgery. As said, choose a straight wooden branch, it would be better if you find something that is wide enough thin and strong like bamboo or rattan. Then for the dressing can use any shirt or cloth.
The thing that must be a concern when helping accident victims is, make sure the safety of the helper first, not to increase casualties. Check whether the surrounding situation is safe. If the victim is lying in a crowded area of vehicles, or the victim is located in a dangerous location such as the edge of a cliff, then immediately move the victim as much as possible before helping. If there is a fire or flood, move the victim out of the disaster area, turn off the fire if the victim is burning, then help the wounds.
It is important to remember that if there is a possibility that the victim has a spinal injury, neck injury, or head injury, try not to move the victim much. Make sure the victim's head, neck and back are in a straight line. As much as possible put the victim on a hard base. If you have never taken a basic life support course, it will be very good if you take it. Your knowledge will be used to help others.
Happy working for others. Regards.
