Forget Taking Tuberculosis Medication According To Doctor’s Orders?
Hello, I am a TB patient who has been on medication for 2 weeks. I want to ask, I was given various types of drugs for TB, one of them is PYRAZINAMIDE with a dose of 2×1 and it turns out that for 6 days I forget to consume 2×1, I only take 1×1 because I forget. Is it okay?
Thank you for asking HealthReplies.com.
Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that can be transmitted easily through inhalation of airway mucus splashes. This disease arises from a bacterial infection called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The cause of this TB can be eradicated by consumption of OAT (anti-TB drugs), which is a combination of antibiotics and supplements. To be cured of TB, this OAT must be consumed properly and regularly for at least 6 consecutive months. During this treatment period, the doctor will generally carry out periodic examinations, including sputum examinations and x-rays, to find out the progress of the disease and your body's response to the treatment. With optimal treatment and good handling of risk factors, most TB sufferers can be cured and do not cause dangerous complications. Conversely, if treatment and management of risk factors are not carried out optimally, there can be treatment resistance, as well as chronic, recurrent TB that is more difficult to cure.
One type of antibiotic that is often prescribed in people with TB is pyrazinamide. By the way it works, this drug is able to kill and stop the development of microorganisms that cause TB. Generally, these drugs are given with a frequency of giving once a day or 3 times a week.
Referring to the information that you convey, we recommend that you consult directly with your doctor or specialist in internal medicine who prescribes the drug to be explained as to what exactly is the right way to consume the drug you have to do. Thus, there is no error in taking drugs that have the potential to cause failure to achieve the goals of treatment itself. Considering that the drug is classified as a hard drug, it is also not appropriate if we explain in detail as to what should be the correct way to take medication in an free forum like this.
Hope this helps ...
