Glycerin Mixed With Vitamin E, Is It Safe?
Hello and good evening, I’m Uya (female btw :’D) from Makassar. I watched youtube with the content How to make lip balm, now it was explained that the mixture contained glycerin mixed with vitamin E (1:1). What I want to ask is, is it safe to mix glycerin with vitamin E on the lips? I use lip balm while sleeping, is it safe to use glycerin while sleeping on the lips? Even if it is safe, which brand of vitamin E and glycerin is suitable for lips? Thank you in advance :).
Wa alaikumsalam Uya, thank you for asking at HealthReplies.com. Glycerin or glycerol is a naturally occurring chemical. Often this substance is used as medicine. Glycerin can be used to reduce weight, improve exercise performance, help the body replace fluid needs during diarrhea and vomiting, and to reduce pressure on the eyeball in glaucoma. Some people apply glycerin to the skin as a moisturizer.
Regarding your question, so far there are no studies showing that mixing vitamin E and glycerin has any adverse or harmful effects, so you should be fine. However, we can't recommend a particular brand without first checking it out. Likewise regarding its use during sleep, there is no or very little research that discusses it.
What you need to pay attention to is if after using your lips become swollen, painful, spots appear on the surrounding skin or there are other disorders, stop using it immediately and consult a dermatologist. I hope you and your family are always healthy.
That's all, hope it helps.
