Good Vitamin D Levels
Hello doc, let me introduce my senses that there is a problem with PCOS, after browsing I got references from various sources for consuming Vitamin D, Avolic Acid and Vitamin E. What is the level of IU that is good for PCOS sufferers? especially for wives who have already gone to the doctor, it turns out that it is indeed PCOS 2. Is 2000 IU good? And what is the effect if excess levels or overdoses? Thank you doc
Thank you for the question.
PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) occurs when the egg cells in the ovary fail to experience perfect maturation, which disturbed ovulation, and instead filled with fluid to form small cysts. This condition can cause a woman to experience abdominal cramps, menstrual pattern disorders, even difficulty conceiving if not handled properly.
The exact cause of PCOS is unknown until now. But hormonal disorders (especially excess insulin and androgens), inflammatory disorders, also genetically suspected to trigger this disease. Therefore, the consumption of a large antioxidant effect in inhibiting the severity of cysts, while also can also restore hormonal balance, so that menstruation is more regular and the potential for pregnancy will be even greater.
There are many good sources of antioxidants consumed by people with PCOS, including vitamin D, vitamin E, folic acid, and various other vitamins and minerals. Specifically for vitamin D, the nutritional adequacy rate (RDA) in adults, including with PCOS, is around 600 IU per day. This dose can be increased to a maximum of 2000 IU per day if needed. But of course, to consume this high dose of vitamin D, especially for a long period of time (more than 2 weeks), your wife still has to go to a doctor or obstetrician first. Because, not everyone is right to consume high doses of vitamin D, because it can trigger side effects, such as weakness, fatigue, frequent drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, dry mouth, uncomfortable tongue, nausea, vomiting, and so on.
Much safer, if you haven't seen a doctor yet, this vitamin D is obtained mainly from natural ingredients, such as diligently basking in the sun, also consuming certain foods, such as beef, fatty fish (such as sardines), fish oil, Butter, liver, milk, egg yolks, mushrooms, and fortified cereals.
Hope this helps ...
