Uterine contractions are an important early sign of labor. A contraction that is a sign that labor is getting closer is to have a fixed pattern, distance and frequency, and the longer it feels. Contractions come regularly, which is about every 5-7 minutes with a contraction duration of about 30-40 seconds. Contractions are described as strong waves and can be accompanied by pain in the thighs and waist.
When feeling the uterine contractions, begin to count
due time. Record the length of time between one contraction and the next, and the length of the contraction. If the heartburn is not regular, then you should wait at home while resting and eating lots to prepare energy. If a contraction has occurred every 5 minutes or very sick can immediately go to the hospital.
Regular contractions can be accompanied by complaints of blood coming out of mucus, or water-seepage that is a sign of rupture of membranes. If this happens then the mother must also immediately go to the hospital.
