Growth Of Fine Hair On The Back?
, I am a woman aged 19 years r nI recently realized that there is hair growing behind my back. Am I an abnormality?
Hello Lianti, thank you for the question for HealthReplies.com
First of all I want to confirm a few things first:
Is the hair you mentioned growing on your back only 1 or a few hairs that are longer than the fine hair on the surrounding skin or is the hair a lot that covers the entire skin of your back?
If what you mean is that the hair covers the entire skin of your back, has this condition been happening for a long time or did it happen suddenly when you were an adult?
Is there hair growth elsewhere too?
Basically, the skin that covers the human body is covered by hair. There are parts that are only covered by fine hair and some are covered by longer and coarser hair. Every pore in the skin has a hair follicle and each hair that grows from these follicles can vary in length and thickness. Sometimes on one part of the body it is possible to grow one or more hairs that are longer and thicker than other parts. This is perfectly normal.
If the hair you are referring to covers your entire back but this condition has been around for a long time (since puberty), then this is most likely a normal condition. This is usually caused by genetic factors, most likely your parents also have the condition. If the hair covers your entire back but occurs suddenly, especially if suddenly there is hair growth in other places (for example facial hair becomes longer and coarser, hair on the hands and feet or on the chest also becomes long and rough), then this can be caused by several possibilities, including:
use of certain drugs
adrenal gland hyperplasia
tumor or cancer that produces androgens
If what you are experiencing is the condition that was mentioned last, then you should immediately see an internal medicine doctor to be able to find out more clearly the cause.
So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
