Handling Of Lumps That Feel Pain In The Breast?
I want to ask 1 week ago, my right breast feels painful and like there is a lump in it and I have done an ultrasound examination and the results are that my breast is just an infection … which is my question whether if there is an infection in the breast it feels hard like there are lumps ?? and what is the most appropriate treatment?
Hello, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com
Are you currently breastfeeding?
Mastitis or infection of the breast most often occurs in women who are breastfeeding their babies (although it can still occur in women who are not breastfeeding even in men). The following are some of the symptoms and signs that can be found while experiencing mastitis:
pain and warmth to the breast to the touch
swelling in the breast
palpable lump in the breast
extreme pain when breastfeeding (especially when there is a milk reflex)
redness of the skin around the breast
As you can read above, the appearance of a lump in the breast can indeed occur when a woman is affected by mastitis.
Treatments for mastitis in general are painkillers and antibiotics. If indeed you are breastfeeding, you should still breastfeed your baby from the infected breast as well and there are some other actions you need to take as well. If you are breastfeeding your baby, also read the following article about mastitis in nursing mothers to find out the follow-up actions you need to take.
In general, you can do the following:
Compress your breasts with warm compresses 15-20 minutes, 3-4 times a day
If there are sores on your nipples, treat and clean your wounds properly
Avoid using bras that are too tight, choose a bra with soft material so as not to hurt your nipples
adequate rest and sleep
Take medication from your doctor according to the rules, take antibiotics until they run out
Bring the results of the ultrasound back to the doctor who suggested an examination for further treatment.
So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
