Having Sex While Pregnant With Placenta Previa?
Are those diagnosed with placenta previa allowed to have sex during pregnancy?
Placenta previa is a condition where the placenta lies below / low and in some cases the placenta covers the birth canal (partially or completely). Symptoms of placenta previa are painless bleeding in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters. In some cases the condition of placenta previa can improve and the placenta will "rise" more as the size of the uterus grows. However, in some cases the placenta still covers the birth canal so that it does not allow normal delivery.
Pregnant women who experience placenta previa are advised to postpone intercourse. Intimate relationships with cases of placenta previa will increase the risk of bleeding and contractions that can result in premature birth. Pregnant women with placenta previa are allowed to have sex if from an ultrasound examination by a gynecologist it is found that the condition of the location of the placenta is better / has "up" and is not at risk of bleeding again.
If you or your husband want to have sex during pregnancy, I suggest that you first consult with your obstetrician so that you can see the condition of the placenta.
Some things that should be considered by pregnant women with placenta previa:
Postpone intercourse during pregnancy until it is allowed by the obstetrician
Avoid sports and activities that are too strenuous
Get enough rest
Avoid doing vaginal douche / washing the vagina too deep
Avoid using tampons
If you experience bleeding, go to the hospital immediately
