Having Sex While Taking Birth Control Pills And After Menstruation.?
Morning, I yumna I want to ask 3 months ago I used 3 months injection injections, this month I replaced the birth control pill. I consume birth control pills when I menstruate, after my period I have intercourse. Does having sex while taking birth control pills and after menstruation will cause pregnancy?
Hello, Yumna Anza. Thank you for the question submitted to HealthReplies.com. We can understand the concern you feel.
There are 2 types of contraceptive pills based on their hormone content, namely: (1) combination pills (consisting of 21 pills containing estrogen-progestin hormone combinations and 7 placebo pills); and (2) minipil (consisting of 28 or 35 progestin pills). Birth control pills need to be taken daily and are highly recommended at the same time every day.
In general, all types of contraception cannot perfectly prevent pregnancy. There is always the possibility for pregnancy to occur despite using any type of contraception, but of course the possibility is much smaller than sexual intercourse without contraception. Birth control pills are also classified as effective methods of pregnancy prevention. When used
correctly, both combination and minipil pills have a risk of pregnancy of less than 1 in 100 women on their use in the first year.
