Hello. I want to ask, Is it clear enough to hear the sound of the winking of one’s own eyes, the movement of the neck bones is natural? And sometimes I hear my own heartbeat. But before, I had 2x ear infections. Does this need to be checked?

1 Answer:

Hi Jesyca,

Being able to hear sounds that occur in our own bodies, although rarely, can happen. This is known as the Superior Semicircular Canal Dehiscence / SSCD. In this condition, there is a direct connection between the inner ear and the brain, which should not exist. Of course this can also cause disturbances for sufferers, including difficulty focusing, balance disorders, dizziness, to mental disorders.

Other conditions that may cause your complaint are: migraines, anxiety disorders, and psychotic disorders.

Your history of ear infections can trigger this SSCD. Please consult an ENT specialist for further examination on this matter.

Our suggestions:

Have any examinations your ENT doctor will recommend
Please check the following link for an ENT doctor referral

Keep your ear cavity clean
Avoid the habit of cleaning your own ears, because it can cause irritation to ear infections
Avoid smoking, alcohol, caffeine and illegal drugs

So, hope it helps
