Hello, I am a 22 year old teenager. A few months ago due to the stress of my work so I felt palpitations and fears of a heart attack, after I went to the doctor, the doctor said that my stomach acid went up so that my heart was pounding. Lately, my palpitations have decreased significantly, but I often get dizzy at night does it come from stress too? or are there other causes? Is it possible in my current situation to be frightened and excited to exercise as usual?

1 Answer:

Hello Tommy

Complaints in the form of a heart feels strong pounding or beating fast can be influenced by many factors, these symptoms are often associated with heart disease, but some conditions can also cause similar complaints, so do not immediately assume that Tommy has heart disease

There is a condition where stomach acid levels are too high which will eventually irritate the upper digestive tract such as the esophagus and throat, resulting in complaints such as discomfort in the chest area, often these complaints are felt like tightness or chest pain.

In addition, a person's psychological condition can trigger a heartbeat frequency, where someone who is angry, frightened, worried that his heart rate will increase faster and feel stronger than usual.

Then there are also external factors such as consuming large amounts of caffeine (coffee and energy drinks), while consuming certain drugs that can trigger these palpitations. Smoking habits and consumption of alcoholic beverages can also be one of the triggers for heart palpitations.

And several medical conditions that need to be taken into consideration for the onset of palpitations, i.e.

Heart disease (atrial fibrillation, cardiomipathy, heart valve disorders, congenital heart disease) Dehydration Fever (lack of fluids) Anemia (low blood Hb levels) Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar levels) Hypotension (low blood pressure) Based on the evaluation of the doctor who has treated you, Obtained conditions that lead to heartburn, so try to consume drugs that are given regularly and make sure that you are not late eating. Try to always have breakfast, and not delay the time of lunch and dinner, also avoid spicy and sour foods.

If the complaint still does not improve, do not hesitate to control back to the doctor. Because certain medical conditions have fairly common symptoms, a re-evaluation needs to be done to ascertain whether the treatment is in line with expectations or whether changes or adjustments in therapy need to be made.
