How To Control Food To Avoid Acne?
, I’m 17 years old, I have a skin condition that often breaks out, especially if it’s approaching menstruation. I think that by controlling foods such as milk and its preparations, eggs, nuts etc. will prevent severe breakout when menstruating. I want to ask how many days before and after menstruation should I start controlling my food? Thank you in advance.
Hello, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com
Basically the appearance of acne is more determined by the condition of your hormonal fluctuations compared to the food you eat. The relationship between the appearance of acne with food is still not known clearly, some research shows a relationship between the consumption of milk and its processed products with the appearance of acne, but other studies show the opposite (no connection).
Here are some things you can do to treat acne before menstruation:
Wash your face regularly 2 times a day, morning and evening before going to bed. Don't wash your face too often.
Wash your face with a gentle soap that is suitable for your skin type, do not use antiseptic soap or soap containing scrubs (scrubs are only recommended to be used 2 times per week only)
Rub your face gently, don't rub it harshly, dry it gently too
Use a facial moisturizer after washing your face, choose what suits your facial skin type
Avoid squeezing pimples when zits appear
Lose weight if there is excess weight
Adequate sleep and rest are also very important to maintain the health of your skin
If indeed acne is very severe (spreads all over the face or pimples that appear are nodular or cystic type of acne), you should consult a dermatologist. Dermatologists can give certain medications that can help control acne (for example certain hormonal contraceptives or spironolactone if acne appears to be related to the menstrual cycle), or other drugs such as isotretinoin or antibiotics.
So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
