1 Answer:
Hello Desysta NurAzizah,
Skin abscess is an infection of the skin and subcutaneous tissue that gives symptoms of swelling or bumps appear on the skin, reddish, painful when held, felt hot, sometimes accompanied by complaints of fever. At one time this abscess can rupture and remove pus from the inside.
Abscesses are formed from the process of immunity / immune system to fight / limit germ infection from outside. Risk factors for abscesses are poor skin hygiene, open skin sores, burns, patients with a history of diabetes mellitus, long-term corticosteroid users, and so on. Treatment at home that can be done if you experience an abscess is:
Warm compresses on the abscess (for small abscesses <1cm)
Don't try to break the abscess yourself or prick it with a needle
Take pain relievers such as acetaminophen
Handling by a doctor usually includes antibiotics and painkillers. Incision and drainage (cutting the skin with a scalpel and then cleaning the inside of the abscess) is needed for some cases of large abscesses. After the action of the drainage incision is usually the patient requires control several times for the treatment of open wounds (former abscesses). Thus the explanation from me, may be useful.
