How To Deal With People With Excessive Anxiety Disorders?
My husband experiences anxiety. I want to ask, How or what should I do to help him free from the disease. And what kind of response should I give when my husband is experiencing anxiety while he does not want to tell us and we cannot ask why is he like that?
Thank you for the question.
Anxious feelings can naturally occur when there are things that are feared or worried about happening that are not as expected or predicted. This condition can also be a form of prudence in attitude, so that it does not need to be considered strange.
But indeed, in some people, this anxiety can appear excessive, thus making the appearance of a variety of disturbing thoughts, making it unable to work and function normally as it should, also raises a variety of physical complaints, including shaking, excessive sweating, sleep disorders, eating disorders heart palpitations, nausea, shortness of breath and so on. In these conditions, it could be that the patient is experiencing a psychiatric disorder, such as excessive anxiety disorders, physical phobias, panic attacks, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, delusional disorders, and so on. Organic disorders, such as hyperthyroidism, as well as side effects of some drugs, sometimes can also trigger excessive anxiety.
The condition of your husband should be consulted directly to a doctor or psychiatrist if it is very disturbing. That way, it can be identified whether your husband's condition is still normal or has included psychiatric disorders.
What you can do now is:
Invite your husband to talk a lot, be a good listener, help him find a solution if there are problems that are difficult to solve. Teach him how to regulate breathing, relax your mind Reassure him, that all problems can be solved, because God will enable him, provided we try our best maybe Help him realize that not everything in this world should go according to our wishes. Believe that God's destiny is the best. No need to worry too much. Accompany him to live a healthy lifestyle, including regular sleep, stay away from cigarettes and alcohol, not excessive drinking caffeinated drinks, healthy eating, regular worship, and regular exercise every day.
