How To Get Rid Of Keloids On The Chest And Itching?
Thanks for answering my question earlier, now what I want to ask, I have keloids on my chest and the size is a bit wide and a bit protruding, and itchy … is it dangerous and how to remove / disguise it?
Thank you for asking HealthReplies.com.
When the skin is inflamed or traumatized, it will normally form scar tissue to repair the wound that appears. However, in some conditions, this scar tissue growth can occur excessively so that it forms a protruding and hard mass above the surface of the skin called a keloid. Keloids can appear anywhere on the body, including the chest. If the size gets bigger, keloids can cause discomfort, which is itching and pain. In addition, the appearance of keloids can also affect a person's self-confidence, especially if they occur in areas of the body that are easily seen by others.
It is not clear what causes someone to experience keloids, while others do not. However, factors such as genetics (congenital), race (especially African, Asian, and Latin), skin color (black people), pregnancy, and age (less than 30 years is believed by many experts to increase a person's risk of developing keloids.
Keloid is actually not a dangerous condition. However, if the growth is very excessive, it could be a sign of skin cancer. Therefore, you need to check with a doctor or skin specialist first to be sure. If there are signs of malignancy, the doctor can perform a biopsy to assess the structure of the keloid making cells. The handling given can later be done through several procedures, including:
Use a silicone gel pad
Radiation, and so on
Consult directly with your doctor regarding the best treatment for your complaint.
I hope this helps.
