How To Prevent Pneumothorax From Being Repeated?
I want to ask, recently I have a pneumothorax operation that is inserted in the hose to remove the air from the left chest, is there any solution to prevent that from happening again?
Penumothorax is a condition where there is air that fills an area in the thin wall between the lung and the chest wall where this condition makes the lungs unable to fully expand or collapse. Pneumothorax itself arises due to several causes such as collisions or trauma to the ribs, rib fractures, other lung diseases such as lung infections, rupture of abnormal pockets in the lungs such as tumors, trauma due to respiratory aids such as ventilators and other causes.
Pneumothorax itself causes symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest pain, cold sweat, cyanosis or skin arises, nails, lips become bluish, palpitations, coughing, weakness and other complaints that can arise suddenly after a trauma. To ensure this is a physical examination and supporting examinations such as x-rays, blood labs, or imaging with ultrasound or CT scan.
Handling itself depends on the type, if it happens suddenly known as the tension pneumothorax which needs to be dealt with immediately by removing the air one of them by sticking a large needle in a certain area and then carried out further handling in the hospital. In other pneumothorax is by installing an air hose to remove air and prevent air from coming back. Surgery is also performed to repair the lung that is having problems and close it again so that no air comes back in and makes a recurrence.
To prevent recurrence, efforts can be made such as overcoming the cause of pneumothorax where if there is an infection it needs to be dealt with thoroughly, stop smoking or avoid cigarette exposure, avoid heavy physical activities for the lungs such as diving, mining work activities, avoiding collisions in the chest area and around it and do periodic checks.
