How To Read Abdominal Ultrasound Results?
Good Afternoon, I am a chronic hepatitis B patient, with Fibroscan Median results: 4.7 And ultrasound results are all OK, except in the left lobe and right lobe recorded Echostrucktur Inhomogen. In the advice given is Fibroscan and ultrasound is checked every 6 months. What is meant by Inhomogen? And is it still curable. Thank you. Hopefully the doctor who answers is always blessed by Allah.
Hello Mia Andriani, thank you for asking.
Ultrasound is a diagnostic and screening method for disease, which uses ultrasonic sound waves. Sound waves will be emitted by an ultrasound probe, then reflected or passed on by body structure. The result is a homogeneous or inhomogeneous picture. Homogeneous means the network structure is all the same, it can be said to be a normal network. Inhomogen means that there is an unequal portion of tissue, which may be denser or looser.
Of course this can show a variety of possibilities. For example, the condition of fatty liver, tumors, abscesses, infections, and so on. We cannot determine a definitive diagnosis, because we do not know your condition. Abdominal ultrasound results must be matched with the results of physical examination and compared with the results of previous ultrasound (if any).
You should bring the results to the treating doctor, in order to get a detailed explanation. Hopefully this information can help. Regards.
