I am 5 months pregnant 6 months walking, how do I relieve pain when CTS (numb) and wrist pain struck? Can CTS disappear after giving birth? can pregnant women be massage on the wrist?

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a condition that causes nerve stress in the wrist area that causes symptoms such as tingling, numbness, or feeling weak. Inside the wrist there is a tunnel-like structure in which the median nerve is located. The median nerve functions to regulate the movement of the muscles in the hand and feel the sensation of the skin in certain areas of the hand. Pregnancy is one of the causes of CTS. When a woman is pregnant, hormonal changes occur that cause an increase in the amount of fluid in the body that can accumulate in certain areas, one of which is the wrist. This buildup of fluid in the wrist is what causes pressure on the media nerves and causes CTS.


To overcome CTS during pregnancy, you can take the following recommendations:

position your hands higher to help reduce fluid buildup / swelling in the wrist. This can be done by putting a pillow under your hand when sleeping. Positioning your hands higher should also be followed by finger movement exercises to help reduce fluid buildup
make sure the position of your hand is not bent and always in a straight position so as not to compress the median nerve. You can use a wrist support (wirst support) to make sure the wrist position is always straight
avoid activities that involve wrist bending or repetitive wrist movements
