Pap smear examination is an examination to see the condition of regional cells in the cervical area. The PAP smear can detect changes in cervical cells that may lead to cervical cancer. Cervical cancer is usually caused due to HPV infection types 16, 18.


If your pap smear has HPV type 44, it depends on whether the cells in the cervix are normal. If the cells in the cervix are still normal and do not show any abnormalities, then you can have another PAP smear every 12 months (1 year). You can ask directly to your gynecologist to find out a more appropriate re-examination time according to your circumstances.
