Immunizations For Children Aged 5 Years?
Good afternoon doctor … r sorry I want to ask if for the 5th child immunization is true DT? besides DT, what immunization for that age?
Hello Mrs. Almira,
For immunizing children 5 years, it is true that DT immunization is carried out to prevent diphtheria and tetanus. Apart from DT, children aged 5 years can also be given MMR boosters (mumps, measles and rubella) but this is not currently available. Currently available is the MR vaccine, done to prevent measles and rubella. This vaccine is carried out simultaneously in August and September 2018, regardless of previous immunization history. This vaccine is free of charge if it is administered at government health facilities, namely health centers. In certain private health facilities it is also possible, but may require service or administration fees.
Apart from DT and MMR, other vaccines that can be given to children aged 5 years are typhoid, varicella (chickenpox) and hepatitis. You can discuss with your pediatrician about these vaccines, considering that these vaccines are not provided free by the government such as basic immunization.
For a complete immunization schedule, you can see the IDAI Immunization Schedule page. Keep your child's immunization on schedule, provide complete and balanced nutrition and teach a clean and healthy lifestyle.
