Impact Of Accumulation Of Dirt In The Entire Ear Hole?
I want to ask what will happen if my ears become blocked because dirt covers my entire ear hole and I don’t clean it to the doctor for how long I will get an ear infection ??
Hello Diana, Thank you for the question.
Earwax is produced by glands in the ear canal that function to trap dust, bacteria, or other foreign objects that enter the ear. In addition, earwax can also protect the ear from irritation. The ear actually has its own mechanism for removing earwax from the ear canal. However, if there is enough earwax production, earwax can accumulate in the ear canal. Earwax that accumulates can cause hearing loss because sound waves that propagate through the air that enters the ear canal are blocked by this earwax so that it cannot be forwarded completely to the eardrum. In addition, if the earwax is left standing constantly then this condition can cause irritation to the walls of the ear canal and can be a place for bacteria to grow so that infection can occur. How long this infection can occur varies in each person, depending on the amount of earwax, whether the earwax is dry or wet, the shape of the ear canal, and several other factors.
If you already have hearing loss or ear pain, you should consult with your doctor so that the doctor can do an examination to find out whether this condition is caused by accumulation of earwax alone or because of other conditions such as otitis externa, otitis media, ear drum tearing, and others. If a buildup of earwax is found, the doctor will perform ear cleaning then after the ears are clean, the doctor will re-examine the condition of your ears. Avoid cleaning the ear with a cotton bud or inserting other objects into the ear. You are also advised to keep your ears dry.
Hopefully this information is useful.
