I. Now a lot of white patches like pus appear around my tonsils. Should I have tonsil removal surgery or what? considering I have consulted 2 doctors at once and there is no change. Thank you.

Hi Adams, thanks for visiting HealthReplies.com.

Tonsils or tonsils are one part that serves as the body's defense against infection, especially during infants and children. The presence of complaints of sore throat accompanied by complaints of inflammation of the tonsils and white patches such as pus on the tonsils can lead to the condition of Tonsilopharyngitis. Tonsillopharyngitis is inflammation of the throat and tonsils. This inflammation can be caused by bacterial infections such as Corynobacterium diphtheria infection which causes diphtheria or infection by Streptococcus bacteria. It can also be caused by viral or fungal infections.

Apart from being caused by tonsillopharyngitis, the presence of white patches on the tonsils can also be caused by several other causes, such as:

Tonsil or peritonsillar abscess
tonsil stones
Cancer of the throat.

Whether or not surgery is necessary must be adjusted to the underlying condition. And to find out the underlying condition, a direct examination must be carried out. Therefore, you should immediately consult an Ear Nose Throat (ENT) Specialist. The doctor will dig deeper into your complaint information and direct physical examination to determine the cause. In addition, if needed, the doctor will also carry out supporting examinations such as a throat swab to confirm the diagnosis. Meanwhile, there are several things you can do while seeing a doctor, namely:

Adequate rest at least 8-9 hours per day
Consume 2-3 liters of water per day or about 8-10 glasses per day
Eating nutritious and nutritious food
Avoid consumption of fatty foods, fried foods, and contain lots of flavoring and preservatives
Take a pain reliever, such as paracetamol.

Hope it is useful.
