Is Hemiparesis A Disability?
doctor / doctor want to ask, hemiparesis / weak body side effects of brain tumor surgery. I’ve ever read or heard that the condition is permanent alias will not be able to return to normal. recover / recover?
Hello Isya Sumantri,
Disability is a self limitation, it can be in terms of physical, cognitive, emotional, sensory, and so forth. Hemiparesis is weakness on one side of the body (left or right). The affected side of the body is more difficult to move and has weaker muscle strength than the normal side.
Some of the things below can cause hemiparesis, including:
Bleeding in the brain due to head trauma
Hemiparesis is a complication of the above diseases which causes disability for the sufferer, affects the quality of life, and makes the patient dependent with caregiver. Hemiparesis can be temporary or permanent depending on the cause and whether the cause can be treated. Hemiparesis in brain tumors that are not operated on can be progressive, for example maybe initially the motor power of the hand is still able to grasp but is a bit weak but gradually it cannot be moved. Aside from treating the cause of damage in the brain, handling hemiparesis also includes the following:
Physiotherapy, electrical stimulation
Use of assistive devices
Thus the explanation from me, hopefully useful.
