Is It Dangerous If Blood Comes Out Of The Operating Site In The Intestinal Area?
Good afternoon. I want to ask. One week ago my father had surgery because his intestine was down, well, today blood came out from the bandages. How is that? Dangerous or not? Then how to overcome it? Need to be taken to the hospital?
Hello! Thank you for the question
Postoperatively, sometimes blood can still leak from a surgical wound, especially if the surgical wound is classified as large. However, generally after a week the wound has dried up and the blood has not come out (seepage can occur but in the form of seepage of clear liquid serum).
However, for this condition it is best to check with the doctor first, to really make sure it's blood or serum seepage (because sometimes patients consider serum fluid seepage is blood), ensure the healing progress of the wound and whether the wound is open again or not, ensuring the presence or absence of infection which can be characterized by pus and usually smells bad. If it turns out the wound has not closed according to the intended target, the possibility of the length of wound closure is due to the lack of consumption of protein foods, stitches that are not strong / less fully closed, or the occurrence of infection.
As for what your father should do to support healing is:
Consumption of high protein foods such as fish, egg whites, chicken meat to support wound healing
Avoid sores from dirty and wet
Wash your hands thoroughly before touching the wound area
If the wound is large, the wound cover can be replaced by cleaning the wound with 0.9% NaCl fluid and closing the wound with sterile gauze, or going to the nearest health facility
That's all the explanation from me, hopefully it helps and useful :)
