Is It Permissible To Extract Teeth After A Whole Body Scan?
Is it okay to have a tooth extracted after having a whole body scan, but not yet undergoing ablation?
Whether or not the tooth is extracted will be carried out based on the considerations of the dentist and oncology surgeon who treats the patient. Many factors may be considered, including the stage of cancer and its metastases, symptoms, blood clotting factor profile and general condition of the patient.
Whole body scan itself is not a contraindication to tooth extraction, but the patient should first consult an oncology surgeon before performing any medical procedures. Doctors will consider medical actions and will allow these actions if the benefits to the patient outweigh the risks (benefit outweighs the risk).
