Is It Possible To Mix Packaged Baby Porridge With Fruit?
Good night, doc, is it permissible to mix packaged baby porridge with dragon fruit or avocado? My child is 6 months old
Hello, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com
Basically you may give fruits to your child, including dragon fruit and avocados. However, you should not mix the fruit with instant baby porridge. We recommend that you make instant baby porridge in accordance with the instructions listed on the packaging of baby porridge (with hot water). You may mix porridge with breast milk at the beginning of giving MPASI so that children are more familiar with the taste of porridge, but do not mix it immediately because breast milk should not be heated to a temperature that is too high and too long. Make porridge with hot water first (make it a bit thick), then mix it with breast milk afterwards.
Why should you not mix porridge with fruit? Because the amount of porridge that will be eaten by children will be reduced, while the nutrients needed by the baby are more abundant in baby porridge than in fruit. Fruits that are mashed of course may be given to children 6 months as a distraction, but not as a main food and the amount should also not be too much (not to make children too full and do not want to drink milk or eat porridge).
So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
