Is It True That I Have Typhus?
Hello doctor. I am Cyntia (21) on 2 February 2019 I have a fever every time I go home from work, after the morning the fever is gone and I can work as usual. Until February 9, I was still working with the situation every time I came home from work, my fever (but not high) was just warm and my body felt unwell. Then on Sunday, February 10, I began to fade all day and the fever that never stopped but not high heat. During that one week period I was only given medicine. From the antibiotic doctor (I forgot his name) also ranitidine and vitamins. But besides that I drink vermint. Then every time I take vermint (herbal worm medicine) almost every night I wake up because I feel pain in the backbone. I was able to check the blood on 9 February to the health center, said the doctor was positife, but he did not need to be treated. Then the lapse of 3 days I bedrest but I never improved my end in care. But during the treatment period there was not the slightest change that I felt. And the inpatient doctor also allowed me to go home after I was treated 3 days 3 nights. The funny thing is when treated there doctors even took blood tests for DHF and liver function. Even though I already brought proof of blood check from the health center before it. And they don’t focus on my typhus. What I want to ask. Is it true that I experienced this typus? Because my appetite is not reduced at all. The heat is also not high until the people say (40 ° C) even though the diagnosis or characteristics of typhus are low appetite and high heat. And to make matters worse, to this day I still feel the fever and feel unwell along with headaches. Thanks Doctor.

Typhus or typhoid fever is a disease condition caused by bacterial infection of Salmonella typhii. Typhus is generally transmitted through the consumption of food or drink that is contaminated with the bacteria that causes typhus. Typhus can spread quickly through the method of transmission, and is one of the diseases that suffer in Indonesia. One of the prevention of typhus can be done by vaccination.
Symptoms that can be experienced in typhus sufferers include fever that occurs disappearing and it feels heavy in the afternoon / evening (the highest temperature can increase every day), muscle aches, headaches, dizziness, feeling unwell, enlarged liver, feeling easily tired and weakness, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, weight loss, diarrhea, skin rashes.
Please note that the symptoms of fever that you experience can be caused by causes other than typhus, one of which is dengue fever. Both of these diseases can have symptoms that resemble each other, for example fever that disappears can persist for more than three days, feel unwell, easily weak and lethargic, pain in the muscles and joints of the body, no appetite. But in dengue fever, there can be a decrease in platelets (blood cells that play a role in blood clotting, causing bleeding manifestations such as nosebleeds, bleeding gums without provocation or reddish spots on the extremities of the body).
Both of these conditions are conditions that need to be treated adequately, but have complications that can be life threatening. In the treatment of typhus, antibiotics need to be given to kill the bacteria that cause infection, whereas in the treatment of dengue fever, antibiotics need not be given because the cause of dengue is dengue virus. In dengue maintaining body fluid conditions becomes important so that the main therapy in dengue is fluid.
In handling your condition it is advisable to follow the treatment regimen and regain control for the follow-up of the results of the treatment, avoid taking additional medication yourself, avoid activities that are too heavy, do a healthy diet and adequate rest.
