Is The Gluten Content In Oatmeal Harmful To The Body?
HealthReplies.com, 1 month I changed my diet by consuming oatmeal (qu * cker oats red) as breakfast, what I want to ask is it safe to consume oatmeal in the long run? Because I got information that oatmeal contains gluten which is said to be harmful to the body. thanks doctor
Hello Stefan, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com
Basically pure oatmeal does not contain gluten. However, oatmeal processing companies usually also process other ingredients that contain gluten such as wheat or barley, so that gluten contamination often occurs in oatmeal products.
Gluten is a protein that can be found in wheat and some other types of grains. Gluten is only dangerous for people who have gluten intolerance disorder (which is called Celiac disease) and gluten allergy. Both are conditions that are quite rare. Most people can tolerate gluten well and gluten consumption is safe for most of these people.
If during this time you have no problems or specific symptoms when you consume whole-grain foods (such as bread or noodles), chances are you have no intolerance to gluten or an allergy to gluten. Consumption of oatmeal (which may only contain a little gluten from contamination), will not be harmful to your health.
So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
