Hello, I’m Jonas. I want to ask whether the right ear is connected to the right brain and the right ear is connected to the left brain? If so, does listening to information with only one side of the ear improve the performance of one side of the brain? Thank you in advance

1 Answer:

Hello Jerko,

Thank you for the question.

It is true, most of our body parts are regulated by their function because they are connected directly to the opposite side of the brain, including the right ear that is connected to the left brain, and the left ear which is connected to the right brain. But in fact, this is not purely so. Because, in certain parts of the brain, the nerves that regulate the opposite part of the body also experience a relationship (synapse) with the side of the brain next to it. Therefore, indirectly, your body parts are also regulated by the same side of the brain.

Brain growth continues since the fetus is still in the womb until he was born, and grow into adulthood. It's just that, throughout this period, the most rapid brain growth occurs in the first years of life, namely infancy and childhood. Improving brain performance can be done in various ways, such as:

Ensuring good nutrition, especially carbohydrates, fats, proteins, folic acid, iron, magnesium, zinc, and various other nutrients
A lot of practice stimulates the brain's work with productive activities, for example by learning, thinking, working, playing, guessing, playing puzzles
Live a healthy lifestyle, like exercising, getting enough sleep
Not doing activities that damage brain function, such as daydreaming a lot, watching porn, consuming alcohol, using drugs, and so on

Increasing the work of one side of the body might help stimulate the work of the part of the brain on the side that regulates it. For example, in a stroke patient who afflicts the right side of the brain thereby paralyzing a large portion of the body in the left side, then doing muscle exercises in the left side of the body can help improve the work of the right brain which was previously damaged due to rupture or blocked blood vessels. Likewise, if you hear more from the right ear, then your left brain will automatically be stimulated continuously, so that your right ear's listening ability will be better than your left ear. However, doing this step alone is certainly not enough, considering that many other factors can also affect brain performance, as mentioned above. In addition, just stimulating hearing does not necessarily mean that other brain functions in the area will also be stimulated. Therefore, if you want to improve brain performance, start by doing the steps above.

Hope this helps ...
