Hi Sahala, Thank you for asking at HealthReplies.com.
The Pap smear is an examination to detect changes in cells in the cervix that become abnormal (become cancer cells) early. Pap smear is done by doing a swab / brushing on the cervix which is then examined in the laboratory. In addition to early detection of cervical cancer, this examination can also detect inflammation or infection.
Chronic cervicitis is inflammation of the cervix that occurs over a long period of time. Women who experience this inflammation do not necessarily experience symptoms. If symptoms appear, the sufferer will experience symptoms of abnormal vaginal discharge, pain during sexual intercourse, bleeding from the vagina after sexual intercourse, pain in the lower abdomen or pelvis. Cervicitis can be caused by sexually transmitted infections, bacterial vaginosis, vaginal yeast infections, irritation from using tampons, allergic reactions to use of contraceptives (condoms) or lubricants, hormonal imbalances. This condition can be cured with treatment by a doctor according to the cause. Cervicitis can reoccur in the sufferer if they have previously been exposed to cervicitis. In addition, if you are exposed to the causes mentioned above (sexually transmitted infections, bacterial vaginosis, etc.), then this condition can happen to you again.
Even if you have serviitis, you can still get vaccinated against the human papillomavirus (HPV) or the virus that causes cervical cancer. The vaccines currently available in Indonesia consist of two trademarks. Please consult with your obstetrician and gynecologist about which vaccine is most appropriate for you. Also consult about the treatment you have to undergo.
Meanwhile, you are also advised to avoid sexual intercourse until you are declared cured. Avoid using tampons. Use underwear that easily absorbs sweat, avoid wearing tight pants, and avoid using feminine cleansers.
I hope this helps.
