Is This An Allergy ??
Hello doctor, nI work as a capster in a salon in my city, so almost every day I get customers who want to cut hair. nWhat I want to ask, why do I always get itchy after cutting my hand? And what feels itchy is only that part, namely on the back of the right hand under the thumb. nI haven’t had this kind of itching for a long time and it must have happened after I cut my customer’s hair. nActually this is because of what? Even though from the past my job was used to cutting hair, but for only about 1 month, I felt a terrible itch after cutting my hair. nPlease for a solution doctor .. nThank you
Hello Zulfa, Thank you for the question.
Does this complaint only occur after you cut your hair? Have any of the ingredients used in the hair cutting process changed in this month? Complaints of itching after cutting hair may be caused by an allergic reaction to an ingredient you used in the hair cutting process which may have changed recently, for example, shampoo, hair tonic, hair gel, and others. In addition to complaints of itching, have the skin on your hands also become dry, red, peeled, or sore? Exposure to chemicals in shampoo when you wash customers' hair or to other chemicals you use can also cause contact dermatitis which can also cause these complaints.
You try again to see if there is a change in the chemicals you use. If so, you should avoid exposure to these ingredients and go back to using the previous ingredients. If this complaint is very disturbing, please see a doctor. Avoid scratching the itchy chart. You can use salicylic powder or calamine lotion to provide temporary relief from itching. Consider taking a break from your job for a while if the complaints worsen.
Hope this information is helpful.
