Hi, I want to ask, this is the first time I have had chickenpox, is it good if people who have chickenpox are close to pets, especially cats, is the danger of pets for humans when they get chickenpox, some say animals are easy to give the virus to our tbh those who are vulnerable to weakness what else if you are sick, please answer, thank you
Hello Mega Aulia,
Chicken pox is caused by the Varicella zoster virus, which enters through the air that is sprinkled by the sufferer when coughing, sneezing or talking or through direct touch. Before the red rash appears, there are usually symptoms of fever, weakness, nausea, lack of appetite and muscle aches. Then, red spots filled with fluid will appear that spread throughout the body. These spots will get better on their own in 1-2 weeks. Pets cannot transmit this virus because this virus is specific to humans.
Cats can indeed transmit several diseases to humans, including:
Fungi on the skin, dermatophytosis
Cat scratch diesease (CSD)
Salmonellosis due to salmonella bacteria
It is true that people with immune system disorders should be more careful. But chicken pox itself is not an immune system disorder. Examples of people who have immune system disorders are people with HIV, are taking immunosuppressant drugs, or people who are undergoing chemotherapy.
Even though it is directly unrelated, there is nothing wrong with temporarily not being close to pets because the body is weak. The most important thing is to have your pet checked regularly to the vet, and immunize the animal according to the doctor's instructions. If your pet behaves abnormally or shows skin disease, it is best to take it to the vet immediately.
