It Is Possible That Albinism Can Be Passed From Parents To Children?
good afternoon doctor..i want to ask…if someone marries a person with albino disease, will the disease pass or pass on to their child??rnthank you
Thank you for your question. Albinism is a disorder of the production of skin pigment (pigment) which causes the sufferer to lack melanin or have no melanin at all so that the patient's skin, hair, and eyes tend to be white. Sufferers can experience visual disturbances for several months after birth which slowly improves. Albinism is caused by a change in one of the genes that help melanocyte cells to form this skin pigment. This condition is a genetic disorder that can be passed from parents to children. Albinism cannot be cured. Despite having skin discoloration, the sufferer can still live a normal life.
Hope this information is useful.
