Itching Around The Abdomen Since Pregnancy And After Giving Birth?
Hello. I am Fitria and 26 years old. have a son aged 3.5. When I was pregnant, I experienced PUPPP (can search on Google). Especially the stomach is very itchy. After giving birth the itch is reduced. But in the stomach, you can’t wear a corset because your stomach is itchy. Until my child is now 3 years old itching in the stomach is still there itching again itching itching again and so on. I tried it, the puskesmas said it was a boy’s hormone allergy, it was difficult to say. I was confused when the itching in my stomach would disappear completely. Guess what I am, and what kind of doctor should I be? Is there a medicine that will get rid of itching? Thank you
Good evening, thanks for the question
Pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP) is a type of eruption in the skin with a fairly severe itching and generally occurs in third trimester pregnancy. This condition occurs when the skin is stretched too much because the baby's size is getting bigger before the time of delivery. One of the known risks of experiencing PUPPP is that one is indeed a baby boy's pregnancy. Most symptoms of PUPPP will be drastically reduced postpartum. Symptoms that persist for many years after childbirth are very rare, although the possibility remains. In conditions such as the case that you experience should be suspected of other possible causes, for example certain types of dermatitis because the description of skin disorders in dermatitis can vary greatly. Make further consultations with a dermatologist so that you can do a direct examination of skin lesions. In general, inflammatory reactions in the skin will respond to topical steroids, but their use must be under a doctor's supervision.
That's all, hope you can help.
